As The Scythe Swings: “90210″ Canceled and “Cult” on Life Support
Business is starting to pick up for your friendly neighborhood TV Reaper. After a few weeks of no action for me and my scythe, I’ve had to make another visit to a TV show, and it looks like another will not be far behind.
Today, after a run that went much further than it ever should, The CW made the call to me to go and reap a show called 90210. I had been expecting this call for some time as this show, despite being a reboot of the original, had long ago lived beyond its years, or as they say in the business, jumped the shark not long after it started.
The show is getting to finish up things on its own terms, in that they known far enough in advance that they can tidy up their story lines and wrap up the show the way they want. On May 13th, that will occur and I will escort it to its afterlife.
There is another show, Cult, on The CW that is already in so much trouble that the network has moved it to the television twilight zone, Friday nights at 9pm eastern. As everyone knows, that is a death sentence to any show banished to that time slot. After watching a couple of episodes of the show, I have to agree with the network’s decision. The show is horrid and the “cult” depicted is not even close to any logical degree of believability.
The CW must be needing to run the show to burn off the episodes and see if it can gather a cult of its own. Considering that it is now on Fridays, I expect that I’ll be visiting the show very shortly.
Business is starting to pick up as we get closer to May. I’ll keep you up to date on my slicing and dicing here on this site. In the meantime, the scythe needs its edge sharpened.
