I love how life serves up wonderful gems at the most random moments. While attending the 2012 Long Beach Comic-Con convention, I met a gazillion professionals most with interesting projects that we’ll cover in the coming weeks. One of the few that stood out was actress Rachel Bailit who, at the time, was busy being a still model for an artist gallery.

Her back-story is rather interesting. Being an actress in Los Angeles opens her up to explore a variety of professions that each touch on her creativity. You may have seen Rachel in a popular running comedy skit on Conan O’ Brien alongside Andy Richter and Bill Tull (check out “Bill Tull’s Easter Tips“); alongside Jim Carey in Ron Howard’s The Grinch Who Stole Christmas; as the recurring role of Marissa on General Hospital; or perhaps a variety of national campaigns of McDonalds, Arby’s, Dodge, US West, and Heineken.

This limited run live performance was written by Emmy award-winner Sherry Coben (creator of Kate & Allie), directed by Phil Ramuno and starred Rachel Bailit. The preview absolutely hooked me! It’s about the personal adventure of Rachel from absolutely nowhere to I’m so close I can hear success walking to my door, and the motivation to turn her acting profession into a success. What I love about this is that it’s a personal look mixed with hilarity. Check out the preview from this acclaimed performance that was shown in Los Angeles and New York:

Rachel also put out a handful of contagiously funny episodes called Diary of an Actress, that talked about what it’s like to strive for that dream role as a starting actress. What started off as a column in the Los Angeles Independent Newspaper that just took off in popularity, and soon after a webisode series was created. Featured below is Episode 3, which had me giggling in anticipation at the 0:22 mark. Seriously, i was tearing up once the “Easy Nozzle” audition started.

Earlier this year, Rachel Bailit starred as Rouge and was cast alongside Cali T. Rossen (Tres), Sonia Maslovskaya (Sonia), and Michael Sharpe (Lord Thunder) in Phillip Kim Marra’s “Three Orbs of Light.” This science-fiction/fantasy movie is currently in production for a 2nd episode. It takes place on Earth in the year 2020 where darkness and evil aim to take over the world’s three sources of life and balance: Mental, Physical and Spiritual. These three orbs are protected by Rouge and the Protectors, and the movie chronicles the battle for Earth and its inhabitents.
