Here is the first trailer for “Iron Man 3” which is scheduled to hit theaters May 3rd, 2013. Even if you have already seen it elsewhere, watch it again … you know you want to … I’ll wait …

An attack on the home front

Looks like things become very personal this time around for Tony Stark (Robert Downey, Jr.). We see his suits get destroyed, we see Pepper (Gwyneth Paltrow in danger, we even see his house get blown to pieces. Prominent in this trailer are the things that are important to Tony; his armor is part of who he is, as are the people who are important to him, especially Pepper and Rhodey/Iron Patriot (Don Cheadle).

This trailer shows us some potentially nice special effects scenes, particularly the incident with the airplane. If this is just a taste of what we will see next year, I think it will be great, particularly in 3D.

The Mandarin is the villain for this film, and will be played by the wonderfully talented Ben Kingsley. We don’t see much of him in this trailer, but I think that’s a good thing. They show us just enough to get us interested, but not too much that could possibly turn us off to the character.

This trailer works on many levels. It is eye-catching and definitely grabs your attention. It shows us just a taste, and leaves the view with just the right amount of questions. It leaves us wanting to see the movie, wanting to know about the Mandarin’s motivations, Tony’s problems, Pepper’s perils, and who the unknown figures are.

Well done! I’m looking forward to more trailers as we get closer to the release date, and for me, this trailer did it’s job, making me want even more to see the final product.
